Final Project Transformation outline
For my transformation project I am thinking of showing the process and what it takes to bake a cake or some type of baked good. I want it to have calm/peaceful music playing in the background and for it to feel warm and comforting and I want multiple angles of me doing the various steps. Baking has always been one of my favorite things to do and I tend to bake a lot when I am stressed so for me it is a calming and good experience and that is what I want to try and portray in my video.
There's a lot to discuss for a project like this in regards to form. It's interesting that a video like this is following a very common formula—how-to videos on Youtube. This can be such an interesting opportunity as a producer to 1) emulate and master the technical problem of shooting something step by step that is clear, well lit, and gets to the point; and 2) potentially veer from the formula to put your own spin on it. Both approaches work or could be mixed, but thinking through the language of a how-to video will help your choices to be intentional. Could there be a personal, almost diaristic or family history spin on what is usually a pretty straight-forward video process? Something more meta or ironic? Lots to talk about today!
