Hello y’all

Hey folks, I want to apologize for my absence this past Monday. Apparently even at 25 when I get a call from school declaring a snow day, I don’t think to check my emails to see if that is indeed the case.

I was asked to go over my understanding of composition, lighting, my equipment and understanding of the assignment.

To start off, currently I’ll be shooting all my video on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. It’s equipped with Dolby vision and has optical image stabilization. Meaning that the camera lens on the device physically adjusts to stabilize the image as opposed to handling it digital through software. I’m trying to find a good tripod for my phone but I’m also trying to save and put money aside so I can actually purchase a standalone camera. As I feel it’ll will easier for me in the future.

To my understanding composition is what makes up a shot, the objects and the environment. These elements can very across different people and their interpretations of composition. There isn’t necessarily a right or wrong way to compose a shot. Lighting is also subjective, but ideally you’ll want lighting to enhance the elements present in your shots composition. Lighting can be used to draw attention to, or away from different elements present in a shot.

Finally my understanding of the assignment. The goal of the assignment is to get us familiar with the different styles of shots we can use to our advantage to convey meaning or tell a story with video. I actually have taken all of my shots all ready. I’ll give an example of what I did for my tracking shot, I used my Dog as my subject and I threw her favorite toy so she would chase it and I followed along behind her. I chose this because a tracking shot allowed me to capture her forward movement while also conveying her excitement and focus on getting to her toy.

Hope this all made sense. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend.
